Meruem or Neferpitou or Chrollo express more personality in a single scene than the Commandments express over an entire season.Įdit: I also have to point out that Hunter x Hunter creates and explores an interesting power system that makes fights so much better to watch, both due to the unpredictability and all the cool unique abilities. I can't remember the name of a single one of them. The Ten Commandments on the other hand were bland and disappointing. Meruem and the Royal Guards are incredible, and the Phantom Troupe aren't far behind.
The story and themes of the best arc is told through the villains, not the heroes. Of my top five characters from the show, at least four and maybe all would be villains. Where Hunter x Hunter excels though, is where SDS fails utterly. The story isn't anything special in either show (with the exception of the Chimera Ant arc, which blows anything else out of the water and might be my favorite single story ever written). Music is great in both of them, but I prefer Hunter x Hunter's OST because of how classical-inspired it is. To be honest if they made a side story about Ban, I'd watch it in a heartbeat. I definitely prefer Hunter x Hunter's main characters, and I think they are explored better, but I like Meliodas and the gang as well, and Ban is awesome to watch.
(though I've only seen the first two seasons of SDS, but I hear the third isn't a sudden jump in quality)Īs far as protagonists go, you could argue either.
